Susan Boyle Sing "I Dreamed a Dream with a lyrics" on Britain's Got Talent

She must have known, going on a major show like "Britain's Got Talent" that she would be scrutinized for her age and appearance. Yet, she went anyway. And when members of the audience whistled at her, she must have felt the sting. But she sang anyway. She opened up her heart and her voice and sang her lungs out, to a public that wasn't initially supportive. She took the high road. She said, in effect, make fun of me, go ahead, and she turned the other cheek and sang. And could she sing! Judge Amanda Holden commented after the performance, "It was a complete privilege listening to that".

Susan Boyle showed in that moment, that she is above average. She didn't cower, didn't head for the hills, even after being visibly nervous and goofy during her conversation with the judges before the show. She had to pause for a few seconds to remember the word "villages" and she gyrated her hips in an awkward apparent attempt to get a laugh out of the judges with her "and that's just one side of me" comment. Judge Simon Cowell of course rolled his eyes. But she overcame her nervousness, the initial disapproval of the public, and put aside her pride (or shame, because really, aren't they the same thing?) and offered a rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables that converted the unwelcoming audience into her fans and friends, got everyone on their feet, and had the judges falling over themselves to compliment her when the performance was over.

Susan Boyle sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables on Britain's Got Talent and surprised the audience and judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Piers Morgan with a stunning vocal performance.

I Dreamed A Dream From Les Miserables Lyrics

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.

Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used
And wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung
No wine untasted.

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame.

And still
I dream he’ll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms
We cannot weather…

I had a dream my life would be
So different form this hell I’m living
so different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.
