Sexbomb Dancers and Cebu inmates join forces for voter's education

Sexbomb Dancers and Cebu inmates join forces for voter's education. Watch the music video of “Bilog na Hugis Itlog" the automation dance of Sexbomb Dancers and Cebu inmates, joining forces for voters education.

The combined star power of the Sexbomb Dancers and the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) dancing inmates, who gained worldwide fame via YouTube by dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller," gave an added boost to educate voters.

The Bilog na Hugis Itlog" music video, which was unveiled in December last year, was headlined by the Sexbomb Dancers. It has since gone viral. It’s all over Facebook, YouTube, and other social media sites. People of all ages sing the song and mimic the moves of the Sexbomb Dancers. In fact, teachers have credited the campaign for “familiarizing voters with this high-tech system."

Just in time for Cebu’s Sinulog festival, Cebu’s 1,500 dancing inmates performed the “automation dance" for GMA Cebu's morning show, Buena Mano Balita. The Sexbomb Dancers, who were teary-eyed when they first watched the inmates rehearse, watched the performance. The two groups went on to have a friendly dance showdown, to the delight of the morning show audience.

Byron Garcia, CPDRC provincial security consultant, called the inmates’ latest routine as part of their “dance therapy." He also revealed that it took the inmates five days to learn the “Bilog na Hugis Itlog" dance, which features original choreography by Sexbomb Girls mentor Joy Cancio. They practiced for at least two hours each day.

GMA Network’s voter education campaign is groundbreaking because it has managed to inject fun and, at the same time, helped people become more aware of the automated elections. In this regard, the GMA News and Public Affairs’ efforts to teach people how to cast an automated ballot is a runaway success. It’s a novel way to empower viewers through information.
